Be Prepared.

The Scout is a custom half-frame bag designed specifically to fit the Wondercross Wanderer. Created in partnership with Skin Grows Back, its shape follows the lines of each Wanderer frame size for a clean, secure fit while preserving space for your bottles.

Made for light and mid-packing expeditions, the Scout keeps tools, spares, snacks, extra layers and everyday essentials close at hand. A unique Hook and Lace mounting system combines the stability of a traditional lace-up frame bag with quicker, easier installation and removal.

The Scout uses a tough, weather-resistant 1000D nylon shell, lightweight black 70D ripstop lining and a YKK AquaGuard zip with a protective triangular cover and extended crescent zipper pulls. These materials are chosen to withstand repeated use in changing conditions while keeping the bag practical and easy to access. It is weather-resistant rather than completely waterproof.

Available in Black and Olive, with a dedicated shape for every Wanderer frame from XXS through to XXL.

Care Instructions

If you can't get your SCOUT looking good with a simple hose down we recommend hand washing with a mild detergent if required, dry in the shade only.

Do not machine wash, machine dry, or iron. Avoid pressure washing and drying in direct sun light.

Here are some useful suggestions for maintaining your skingrowsback product. Even though the slightly over engineered nature of these products will mean they last a long time a couple of basic rules to follow will keep them lasting even longer.

Washing.

When it comes to washing there are two ways you can approach this. Primarily for our on bike products the most effective way is to use a hose to remove the bulk of the dirt and mud. Try to avoid using a pressure washer as this can do more harm than good. Different colours will have different results, the brighter the colour the more difficult it will be to keep clean for obvious reasons.

Understanding the materials we use for our products will help you care for them in an optimal way. Almost all our products use materials that have a DWR coating (Durable Water Repellent) on the outer layer. Over time this will wear off with factors like abrasion, fibre stress, prolonged UV exposure and detergents. This doesn't mean that we should totally shelter these products, but if we start with an understanding of what has the potential to cause damage then we can work around them.

Zips

Using zips is pretty self explanatory, you pull it one way to open and the opposite way to close.

You can avoid stress on the teeth of the zip if you hold the product together when zipping it up. Pushing any obstructions away from the zip slider as you close it can avoid a jam, lightweight materials like jackets are notorious for this. Removing dirt, mud and particularly sand from the surface of the zip can reduce the risk of damage when opening and closing. All our on bike products use a YKK PU coated zip this offers a degree of water repellency, it's also easy to wipe down before use.

Zip lube is another great way to prolong the life of your zip. Yes, zip lube. Apply a small amount to the teeth of the zip occasionally for smoother running zips.

Spray Before You Play.

Before you use your skingrowsback product we recommend using a water shield spray, this not only repels water but will reduce the amount of dirt that sticks to the surface. Follow the instructions on the container for the best results.

Tried & Tested

Every material, zip and finish used by Skin Grows Back has been refined through years of real-world riding. Their bags are developed for long days, rough roads and changing weather, with each detail chosen for durability, dependable performance and repeated use in the field.

That experience is built into the Scout. From the tough outer fabric to the hardware, stitching and protective finishes, every element is designed to handle the knocks, movement and exposure that come with everyday riding and bikepacking adventures—season after season.

Hook & Lace

The Scout’s unique Hook & Lace system combines the clean, secure hold of a traditional lace-up frame bag with a quicker and more practical removal process. The lacing keeps the bag firmly positioned against the frame, while the integrated hooks make it easier to release without having to completely undo the entire setup.

It is designed for riders who want the stability of a custom-fitted bag without making it feel permanently attached to the bike. Whether you are cleaning the frame, swapping bags or taking the Scout inside after a ride, the system makes removal simpler while maintaining a tidy, low-profile fit on the Wanderer.
